Retail Collection of Revenue

Retail locations and tasting rooms are often the social lifeblood of a distillery.  They're revenue generators, connectors, and opportunities to gather social followings. This course covers the various point-of-sale (POS) options and how those options support a distillery's operations and growth.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Review strengths and weaknesses in common available PoS systems; Square, Toast, etc.
  2. Ask the right questions of your business model to determine the proper PoS system for your distillery
  3. Understand how to utilize your PoS system to track sales of bottles to end user, on premise and distribution consumers in order to set sales targets, develop projections and make strategic decisions
  4. Learn about the customer connectivity these POS systems offer and how they assist with marketing, customer data, etc.
  5. Learn how to make tasting room staff's lives easier and efficient with a great POS setup
  6. Understand how to tax properly and how taxing changes based on how your business operates (DTC sales, shipping vs in person retail, distribution, etc.)
  7. Be able to implement best practices to enhance sales opportunities in your retail shop and tasting room
